about

Released on 18th December, Scottish singer-songwriter Ollie Wale's 'Lost Time' is an acoustic ballad about two people putting negative past experiences behind them in order to commit themselves to each other. It's a song about the importance of focusing on the present rather than beating yourself up over the past.

lyrics

Once upon a time
There lived a girl whose quest for joy became a constant uphill climb
‘Cos nothing good would last
Things would end in devastation after diving in too fast
And it’s a long way back from here

Nothing comes easy
Without any problems
Mistakes are repeating
No clue how to solve ‘em
Believing she’s already past her prime
All those wasted hours seem like such a crime
All of the lost time

Once upon a time
There lived a boy too scared to contemplate a constant uphill climb
So he’d avoid the pain
'Cos there’s no chance of losing joy if you make no attempt to gain
And it’s a long way back from here

Nothing comes easy
Without any problems
Mistakes are repeating
No clue how to solve ‘em
Believing he’s already past his prime
All those wasted hours seem like such a crime
All of the lost time
All of the lost time

Put on your favourite evening gown
I’ll show you round my one-horse town
So build me up or tear me down
Either way
If we don’t try, we’ll never know
Without the rain, how would we grow?

Nothing comes easy
Without any problems
But maybe together, we’ll learn how to solve ‘em
Let’s take a leap of faith
We’re in our prime
All those wasted hours seem like such a crime
So let’s make up for lost time
Let’s make up for lost time
Let’s make up for lost time
